The African Red Knob Starfish (Protoreaster lincki), also known as the Red Tip Starfish, can be found among reefs and rocky outcroppings among the eastern Atlantic Ocean. Starfish eat by excreting their stomachs out onto their prey and retracting it back in. They will primarily eat an omnivorous diet consisting of dead plants, algae, sponges, and detritus. Starfish are highly sensitive to water quality conditions and should be kept in a stable environment with minimal parameter fluctuations. They should not be paired with predatory fish or with soft corals, tubeworms, and clams as they can eat them. They require a tank with plenty of sand, rock, and algae.
