Looking to add a unique and useful creature to your reef aquarium? Consider the Babylon snail, also known as the Tiger Nassarius, Brown Blotched snail, or Orange Spot Butterscotch snail. This species of Nassarius snail is one of the larger varieties that can be kept in a reef tank, growing up to 2.5 inches in length. With their scavenging ability, Babylon snails can help keep your tank clean by consuming leftover food and detritus.
One fascinating behavior of Nassarius snails, including the Babylon snail, is their ability to bury themselves in the sand until they sense food. This "sensing behavior" allows them to quickly locate and consume any available food in the tank, before burying themselves back in the sand until the next meal.
He looks really cool. Never seen one of these before.
