Zoanthids are an order of cnidarians, and are commonly found in coral reefs as well as in the deep sea, and are often found all over the world. Zoanthids can be found in a wide variety of beautiful colors and different colonizing formations made up of individual polyps, attached to an exterior spine, or attached to a mat or rock that has been created from smaller pieces of sediment. Zoanthids can tolerate a wide array of water conditions, making them extremely hardy and very desirable. Zoanthids feed using a process known as photosynthesis through the help of zooxanthellae they contain, as well as capturing plankton and particulate matter through the water column.
