The Purple Lobster is a nocturnal species and mainly comes out at night in search of foods. It needs lots of hiding places, especially in reef tanks, thus keeping live rocks with caves is necessary. It is advised to keep only one per tank to avoid any unnecessary aggressive behavior. The Purple Lobster is considered a scavenger that likes to sift through the sand for detritus and thus helps in keeping the aquarium aerated. They are reef safe if well fed and provided plenty of hiding areas.
