The Barberfish Butterfly, scientifically known as Johnrandallia nigrirostris, is a striking marine species cherished by aquarium enthusiasts for its vibrant colors and graceful movements. Firstly, maintaining stable water parameters is crucial.  Regular water quality checks and partial water changes are essential to keep ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels in check. They can grow up to 8 inches and are not reef safe as they will nip at corals and inverts in a reef aquarium setting.

Secondly, offering a suitable diet is essential for their well-being. Barberfish Butterflies are omnivores, so their diet should consist of a variety of meaty foods and plant matter. Provide them with high-quality frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, chopped seafood, and marine algae. Additionally, incorporating some vegetable matter like spirulina flakes or blanched vegetables will ensure a balanced diet.
