The Blue Throat Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus cyanogularis) is a vibrant wrasse from the reefs of Indonesia and Eastern Asia. They have a bright red dorsal section, a white or yellow belly, and a bright blue throat; the fins are typically red or orange with blue lines and spots. Additionally, terminal-phase males can have maroon or purple dorsal and caudal fins. They require a tank of at least 50 gallons with plenty of live rock for them to hide among; they do best in peaceful reef aquariums and help with pest control, feeding on a variety of invertebrates, including: flatworms, polychaete worms and small crustaceans. As is true for many wrasses, they are able to jump. so a lid or eurobrace is recommended. They do best if kept singly, though bonded pairs can be accomplished. Their diet should consist of carnivorous preparations, such as vitamin-enriched mysis, krill or live brine.
