This Blue Urchin will add a glamorous appeal to your aquarium with its visually striking beauty. The soft velvet blue bands over its body make it strikingly beautiful. The Blue Urchin is also commonly referred to as the Globe Urchin, Sphere Urchin and Tuxedo Urchin. The Blue Urchin features five to ten broad-colored bands that are generally blue or black in color along with brown, red or dark spines. The Blue Urchin has a tendency to hide during the daytime amongst the crevices, rocks, and also under plants. It comes out in the night time to graze over the algae present near or inside its home. A Blue Urchin will not be able to tolerate high levels of nitrate and any copper based medications. This herbivorous marine species usually feeds on the algae present in water or else can be supplemented with dried seaweed in case of low algae formation in the tank. A diet rich in calcium and trace elements will be beneficial for the continued good health of the Blue Urchin. It is recommended to provide drip acclimation in the period of 1.5 to 2.5 hours if you are introducing Blue Urchin to a new home, as it is very sensitive and does not tolerate any changes in the water parameter. This particular Blue Urchin has a habit to stick things like shells, macro algae, or bits of rocks on itself, which protects it from UV radiations as it is sensitive to it. As it is very easy to take care of a Blue Urchin, they proved as a good choice for beginners.
