The Hydnophora coral is often referred to as Knob, Velvet Horn, or Branch Coral. Its name describes its skeletal base, and it is a branching variety of a teal or green color, and very short blunt polyps. The Hydnophora coral is mostly found to be aggressive and devour almost all the corals present to its proximity. Therefore it is very important to keep it at a distance from other corals. It is a challenge to maintain, but if given proper conditions, the Hydnophora coral will do well in the reef aquarium. It requires addition of calcium and, strontium, and other trace elements to the water for its continued good health. The Hydnophora coral requires high light level along with medium water movement for its proper growth. It mainly feeds on micro-plankton or food designed for filter feeding invertebrates. The Hydnophora coral thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78 degrees Fahrenheit and pH of 8.1-8.4.

This coral is absolutely beautiful. Mine is a neon green color. You need to make sure you give the coral room to grow, as this specimen is encrusting and will spread onto adjacent live rock
