The Regal Demoiselle fish is also commonly known as the Lyretail Damselfishes, Pullers, Chromis, Crescent Damsel, Yellow-tailed Damselfish, Regal Damsel, Violet Demoiselle, Scissor Tail Chromis, Violet Damselfish, and Filamentous-tail Black Damsel. They belong to the Pomacentridae (Damselfish) family and is widely distributed from East Africa to southern Japan, Indo-Malaysian Archipelago, Melanesia and northern Australia usually at a depth of 16 ft to 98 ft. The Regal Demoiselle can be easily identified by the large black spots on its operculum and the yellow color on its dorsal fin. The lower side of the Regal Demoiselle features a dark brown color.
